For the majority of people living today, socialism is a system that has been tried but has failed. Capitalism and the free market are so entrenched that any alternative seems impossible.

No country has a socialist party that provides a real challenge to the existing capitalist order.

But with the growing catastrophe of climate change, the capitalist order will be severely disrupted. Market solutions are not working, and huge state intervention will be required to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions. Only socialist solutions will succeed in bringing about a just transition to habitable planet.
